Attractions

Local Attractions

Torquay and the general area of Torbay offers something for everyone, whether you are visiting alone, as a couple or as a family.

The attractions listed below should give you flavour of what’s on offer but the list is by no means exhaustive. And don’t forget, you also have the choice of 20 superb beaches, 5 of which hold the coveted European Blue Flag award.

Paignton Zoo

Living Coasts

Kents Cavern

Torquay Museum

Theatres

Restaurants

Take a whole day to make the most of more than 3000 animals and a newly opened (Easter 2008) crocodile swamp.

Visit Torquays own colony of penguins, seals and numerous other sea birds.

Take a fascinating guided tour around these pre-historic caves. See the face in the rock, mammoth teeth and the Hyena’s lair where remains of giant elk and whoolly rhino have been found.

Quaywest

Get wet and wild at Quaywest waterpark. Can you handle “Devils Drop” or “the Screamer”?

Theatre goers have plenty of choice with the 1500 seat Princess Theatre on Torquay seafront, the Palace Theatre in Paignton, Babbacombe Theatre or the smaller Little Theatre.

Whatever your taste, Torquay has a restaurant for you - Italian, Indian, Mexican, Thai, Chinese or good old British - from harbourside cafes to fine dining. We can provide you with personal recommendations and discounts for many restaurants.

For those who enjoy walking, Torquay hosts its own 22 mile section of the South West Coast path. For more information on walks see BBC “Walk through time”.

Dartmoor National Park

Designated a National Park in 1951, Dartmoor is a 40 minute drive from Torquay. Enjoy a walk up one the Tors, visit the quaint village of Widdecombe-in-the-Moor or Canonteign Falls. We can recommend a route around the moor for you, taking in the best it has to offer.

English Riviera Geopark

In 2007 Torbay was awarded Geopark status. This was in recognition of the many unique geological features of the region - all of which are available for visitors to explore.
